Kinda Sorta New Blog
www.el1ejournal.wordpress.com
It’s kinda sorta my new blog. In a way. I guess.
December 4, 2008
I. Am. Alive! Imagine that.
Hey guys! I apologize a lot for not posting in… let’s see, forever?
I would go into an explanation, but I think it’s easier to just tell you that I’m back now, but not for long. At least not on word press.
I know some of you will be disappointed (and I know I can’t exactly blame you – who couldn’t love reading a blog that is so far behind on posting that everybody leaves?) but I’m no longer going to be blogging. Period. About anything. For at least the next month. Possibly less, possibly forever.
If you’re really bored and with nothing to do, especially those of you lucky enough to have a nice library nearby, why not check out some of these? Maximum Ride, Magyk, Leven Thumps, Trickster’s Choice, and anything elf-y. That would be awesome.
I may begin to blog about my life – just school, books, my Christmas list, whatever – but that all depends on how much time I have. I must admit I’m not up-to-date on home work *glares at backpack* but I can’t help but spend a lot of time reading. The smell of freshly printed book is my life source, practically.
I’ll still be on to reply to comments, about anything. Need help on Elf Island? Ask away. Tips on anything? Go ahead. Interesting ideas on what to read next? I’d love to.
Sorry for the disappearance.

Wow – NEWS
Since the opening of Public Beta, many other cool new things have been added to the site! You may have noticed there is a new home page -
There are now many new Information pages and stuff to keep you updated, and better learn about Elf Island! Wow, I’m going to have my work cut out for me trying to write guides for all the new stuff that’s coming.
If you explore some of the new pages, you will find the TOUR video! Watch it. See all that new stuff?! Can’t wait ’till it’s out.
When singing in, you will also notice SERVERS! Currently, there’s only one. (awkward silence) Soon there’ll be many many many!! Just wait. There’s also a Refer a Friend page.
As we all know, from now on the site will be open from 10:00 AM East Time to 1:00 AM, so we can play for much longer than before!
Also due to the publid beta being opened, you can play pretty much instantly after you join.
I can’t get sign in right now to play, because it won’t load past the server selection. I’ll post more once I can get onto the Island!

Boat 12 Launches!
Today (November 20th, 2008) boat 12 launches! If you find your pre-registered user name on THIS LIST then you can sign up here to be one of the next few into the island! NOTE: You do not have to sign up the day the boat is allowed into the site – you can at any time after that. This means that if you missed a day, you won’t miss out. A few have mistaken that rule and made other accounts, but all this does is make it so less people can make their FIRST accounts. I suggest you do this AFTER the beta has ended, to be fair to all who want to test the site.
Also some news about Elf Island – I’ll be taking pictures of peoples’ homes for the Signing Up page I am constructing, to show people what the house will look like before they choose. If you have a house you want me to look at, comment here and we will arrange to meet so I can see your room and add it to the page. (Names will be placed on the page according to whether or not the player wants to be given credit for their room) Rooms would be preferred empty, so the new member can see everything that they will get when they choose that home, but if you have some items inside that’s okay – just know that if I can get a picture of a room without anything in it, your room may be replaced on the page. Click “comments” below this article to enter your room. Arrangements for the picture to be taken will be decided shortly after. If I have you on my list already, you have a better chance of getting posted, since we won’t have to arrange to be in one place at one time in order for me to see the room. Have fun with it.

Contests Page! Coming Soon. Will feature competitions such as fashion shows, room makeovers and contests, Island related word games, and more.
Signing Up Page! Coming Soon. Will show all the steps to signing up, give a quick over-view of the game and how to play, how to chat, and some other useful things to know as you are entering the Island community.
Adoptables! Almost done. I’ve figured out how to let you guys dress them up as well.
More to be added! Comment with your ideas, if you’d like.
As always, have a wonderful day on the Island!

News, News, News!
Ah! Another brilliant day on Elf Island! The sun is shining like always, and the Thanksgiving decorations can be found everywhere, brightening smiles and bringing holiday spirit. Autumn is my favorite time of year! My birthday was not long ago, and just yesterday many Islanders who were also VMK members celebrated Mickey Mouse’s 80th birthday. Some other holidays this month include Children’s Day in India, and Women’s Day in Denmark (oh I wish they had that in America too
) Most importantly, this month Elf Island opened up to it’s first few members, and is now going to open for the public!
(see bottom of article to find links to all the current boats)
This coming Friday – November 21, 2008 – Elf Island will go into it’s Public Beta phase! From now until then, no one will be able to register. Don’t worry! It’s only a short while until you can go in the moment you join! When the Public Beta is launched, you can join just like any other game, and play straight away.
For those who pre-registered but have not yet been placed on a boat, you have no need to worry either. Your place will still be there when the site opens to the public, you’ll just miss the closed beta. It’s not the biggest thing in the world, so don’t feel left out!
As a side note to that, if you are placed on a boat you DO NOT have to sign up that day. Your place is open at all times and you can join at any point following. You will still be able to join when the Public Beta opens as well.
Has any one noticed that the logo on the main page (www.elfisland.com) has slightly changed? I wonder if they’re going to change some other art work as well.
Some new Island features include: (from the Elf Island blog)
-Fixed the problem with items disappearing in the homes
-Made the avatars invisible when they enter a mini-game or a store
-Labeled the “Map”
-Chat/UI Lag - we’ve made major strides and will continue to improve the experience
-We also addressed an issue where players were sometimes not able to see other players’ names
Some things that will happen soon: (also from the blog)
- The Field Guide (as the week progresses you will see improvements with usability)
- Chat Logs: We are adding a chat log, so that players can read the chat in the room without seeing the bubbles overlap (or we will find a way to keep bubbles from overlapping)
- Mini-game widget: It will be easy to find, so exiting a game will be intuitive
– Fix layering issues with goods and the “edit home” button, so that an elf cannot walk through them
- Alphabetize the friend’s list
- Our first GoodQuest: House building!
- More micro games
- More animated items to purchase
- More elf outfit selections
- Full access to the Field Guide
- Improved chat options and elf mobility
- Buying, trading or gifting items with other elves
- Achievement and status
- Our weekly multimedia newsletter – The Tide
- Tribes – Coming soon!
In terms of features, this week you should expect to see: (also from the blog..)
- The pie shooter micro-game
- New items/goods
- Improved Elf mobility
- Improved customization process
We’re all looking forward to a marvelous week!

I’ve added a list of Moderators to the Dictionary, and modified a couple of definitions. I’m beginning to work on the Games and Places sections as well.
My site adoptables will be posted soon. Check back often to see if I’ve gotten them up yet.
Work has begun on a new… oops, wait, it’s a secret. ^_^”

If you pre-registered and want to see if you are allowed in, click on the following links. Use CRTL F to quickly search the page for your user name.
If you are on one of these boats, and have not yet signed up, click here to do so. Use the user name form the boat list and the pass word you used to pre-register to complete the registration. Once you are done, check your email (on the email account you provided for Elf Island) to see if you have received your activation letter. Be sure to check your junk and spam folders as well. Click on the activation link (the long, random one) to fully register your account. Once you are done registering, you can click here to sign in! When you sign in for the first time, you are able to watch the movie clip introducing the island and it’s history. If you want to read more of it or review what you saw and heard in the movie, then click on the book at the top of the play screen. This will open your Field Guide. According to most, the Field Guide is not yet complete.

Miscellaneous News
Wow, I actually spelled miscellaneous right on the first try. O_O;
Well, on to the news!
New guide pages! I’ve added an Elf Island Dictionary, and a page that tells about what Elf Island is. Anything I missed, or that you want to mention? Just send in a comment and I will fix it right away!
Adoptables – I’ve finished making most of the Bears, and will continue making them. I’m also working on clothes for them to wear! Comment with any ideas you have for adoptables or clothing.
Have fun around the Island!

Elf Island Secrets
Welcome to Elf Island Secrets, the new fan site and guide to all things Elf Island. This site is just beginning, and so is Elf Island! The new children’s web site, where your goal is to bring good to all places in need, as well as in the real world, is in it’s testing phase. The first few “boats” have been accepted into the game, and the sites’ bugs are still being fixed.
For those of who have never heard of Elf Island, you can click the link above or click here for the Elf Island blog, or here for the Log In page.
How does registration work? Registration for Elf Island is simple, but takes a lot of time.
- Click here to reserve your place on a boat heading to Elf Island. Your user name will be listed on a boat passenger list within the next few days (lists are featured on the Elf Island blog) and you can then Sign Up using the name and password you pre-registered with.
- Click here to Sign Up. Your user name and password will only work if you are on a boat list. If you have not been placed on a boat yet, your user name will not let you sign up. Don’t worry – just be patient for your name to appear on a list. (HINT: Use CRTL F to search the boat list pages for your name, without having to read through the entire list)
- After you sign up, using the correct user name and password you pre-registered with, you will be sent an activation email. This email confirms that you are indeed allowed to play the game, and gives parent consent to Elf Island. You also have to agree to the Terms and Conditions. If you are younger than 13, you may not be able to use the chat feature without a parent’s permission.
- Once you have signed up and activated your account (by clicking the activation link in the email – check your Junk folder for the email if it does not show up in your inbox) then you can go here to log in. Your log in information is your user name and password you used earlier. You can also choose to have the computer remember your password if you like.
- Now you are free to play Elf Island!
Some Online Safety Tips and Things to Remember:
- Don’t use your real name or things that may identify you in your user name
- Don’t ever share personal information, such as your age, name, or location
- Be aware of who you talk to, and that they could be anyone – a 50 year old man, a 13 year old girl, a 5 year old boy. Just because you’ve talked to them does not mean you truly know them.
- Be kind to everyone! You don’t want to give a bad impression, or get a reputation for undesirable qualities, do you? Don’t be mean!
- Report any offending or mean behavior – bad language, bullying, or harassment
- Don’t cheat – At least not on the site
- Be friendly! Of course don’t be so friendly you get hurt – just be kind and generous.

For those of you who were directed here from my Dizzywood site- (my site notes)
The adoptables are coming soon, as well as an art page! Be ready for role playing, cute dress-up-able bears and limes, and some guide pages to help you get used to Elf Island while you wait for a boat.
Have fun around the Island!
~Cloverbee/Moonglade/Elle
P.S. I’ll be using my Moonglade account most on Elf Island. My other account is Cloverbee, and my screen name (my pretend online name) is Elle. In the future, I will sign my posts using the name Moonglade. I apologize if this is confusing!
